'Badass' Hillary Clinton Surfaces in Colombia

Hillary lets down her hair

(Newser) – While President Obama had his hands full with the Secret Service prostitute scandal in Colombia, Hillary Clinton was partying at a trendy cafe in Cartagena. It was badass turn No. 2 for Clinton, who's undergoing a reputation refurbishment as a take-no-guff secretary of state thanks to the Texts from Hillary blog that features fake kickass texts from Clinton (who even got in on the joke with a real text). Now it appears that she's actually ... fun-loving. She danced and swigged a brewsky—although the Washington Post said she was "sipping beer"—in AFP-Getty photos at the Cafe Havana the night before the Summit of the Americas ended yesterday. The last viral photo of Clinton showed her hard at work on a flight to Libya.

http://www.waynemadsenreport.com/articles/20071015 Hillary Clinton flew on plane owned by company linked to CIA renditions and organized crime publication date: Oct 15, 2007 Previous | Next   October 15, 2007 --  Hillary Clinton flew on plane owned by company linked to CIA renditions and organized crime On September 24, 2007, a Gulfstream II (tail number N987SA) crashed landed in Yucatan, Mexico with 3.3 metric tons (3.7 tons) of cocaine on board.

The plane had recently been sold to Donna Blue Aircraft, Inc. of Coconut Creek, Florida, a firm owned by two Brazilians, and re-sold, shortly before the crash, to two Florida businessmen. N987SA had also flown patterns to and from Guantanamo Bay similar to those flown by CIA rendition aircraft Before being sold to Donna Blue, the Gulfstream had been owned by Air Rutter International, a firm with offices in Garden City, New York; Long Beach and Irvine, California, whose owner is Arik Kislin, the son of Sam Kislin. N987SA was owned by Kislin's business partner, William Achenbaum, an owner, along with Arik Kislin, of Manhattan's Hotel Gansevoort.

Air Rutter leased out the aircraft. WMR has learned that another Air Rutter Gulfstream II (tail number N216RR) has flown presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, including a January 2007 stop in Des Moines, Iowa. The plane, which has a crew of 3, including a jump seat for a flight attendant, and can handle up to 13 passengers, has a fully galley, a private lavatory, plush leather seats, conference seats and table, CD/DVD entertainment system, a 21 inch monitor, satellite telephone system, and even an espresso machine.

On October 9, 2007, WMR reported: Arik's uncle, Semyon (Sam) Kislin, a member of the New York City Economic Development Board and immigrant from Odessa, has poured substantial political donations into the past campaigns in New York of Hillary Clinton and [Rudolph] Giuliani. He has also contributed to past campaigns of New York Senator Charles Schumer, former Republican Senator Alphonse D'Amato, and President Bill Clinton. The Center for Public Integrity has previously reported that a 1996 Interpol report connected Sam Kislin's Trans Commodities, Inc. to two reputed Uzbek mobsters, Lev and Mikhail Chernoy.

The Interpol connected Kislin's firm to the Chernoys' fraud and embezzlement schemes. Kislin confirmed that Mikhail Chernoy had been employed by his Trans Commodities firm. The Chernoy brothers are citizens of Israel. [The Chenoys have been linked to a worldwide empire of front companies and corporate shells in Monaco, the Bahamas, Cyprus, Switzerland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Israel, the Cayman Islands, Western Samoa, London, Isle of Man, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Brighton Beach (Brooklyn), Liechtenstein, and Vanuatu].

Between 1994 and 1997, Sam Kislin and his wife Ludmila, gave Giuliani $14,250 in contributions. In 1997, after Giuliani maxed out on his GOP contributions, $9.7 million, Kislin donated $30,000 to Giuliani through the Liberal Party, the other ticket on which Giuliani was running for re-election as mayor. In May 1999, Sam Kislin co-chaired a Giuliani Senate race fundraiser at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in New York. The gathering raised $2.1 million for Giuliani's aborted senate campaign. Arik Kislin contributed $1000 to Giuliani's 1995 mayoral campaign and his Blonde Management shared office space with Sam Kislin's Trans Commodities. Sam Kislin, his wife Ludmila, their son David, and daughter Regina gave $2000 to Schumer's 1998 Senate campaign.

Sam also gave Schumer's opponent, D'Amato, $1000. Sam Kislin is also a prominent supporter of the United Jewish Appeal and Israel. Arik Kislin gave Hillary Clinton $4000 in 2006, specifically on Sept. 12, 2006. That same day an Olya Kislin also donated $4000 to Hillary Clinton. On October 1, 2007, the New York Post reported that an ex-employee of Air Rutter, Mark Billey, subsequently arrested on federal child sex charges, said he noted a number of armed U.S. Marshals at Air Rutter's facilities in Long Beach, however, given the connection between the firm and Clinton, the federal agents may have been part of Senator Clinton's Secret Service detail.

Hillary Clinton  has made several fundraising visits to the Los Angeles area over the past year. On October 9, WMR also reported that Arik Kislin is associated with another airline company, Skookum Air, Inc. Government records indicate that Clinton's N216RR was owned by Skookum Air, as well as Air Rutter International, with the actual registered owner listed as GS-II Holdings, LLC, a firm registered in Delaware with offices listed at 35 E. 21st St. Suite 500, New York, NY. On October 4, 2007, when Senator Clinton visited Chicago to attend a "Republicans for Hillary" fundraiser at the Hyatt Regency, N216RR was parked at Chicago Midway Airport.

Recently, N216RR has been put up for sale.

Cocaine found in Secret Service agent's room, hotel staffer says

By
CARTAGENA, Colombia -- Cocaine and several bottles of whiskey apparently fueled the US Secret Service agents' fling with up to 20 hookers at a hotel in Cartagena, Colombia, a hotel staffer told the New York Post.
The employee responded to the trashed room with police and other Hotel El Caribe workers when one prostitute complained after a Secret Service agent initially refused to pay her.
"When I went upstairs I walked into a messy room. The room was littered with two whiskey bottles -- and a line of white powder, I believed to be cocaine, was on top of a round glass table in the room," the staffer told the Post.
He painted a picture of morning-after mayhem in the lobby, just two days before President Barack Obama landed in the country for an international summit.
"The prostitute was screaming in the lobby that he didn't pay her," the early-morning shift worker recalled. "She looked like she had a few drinks in her. She just wanted what was promised to her.
"She was very upset," he said.
"The agent was supposed to pay her a [bar] fine on top of the pay rate for her sexual services, but he didn't," he said, referring to the local practice of paying a fee to the red-light district hot spot Pley Club to take one of its "dancers" out on a date, and then another fee directly to the woman.
The Secret Service did not return calls for comment.

At least 11 Secret Service members and 10 US military personnel partied with as many as 21 hookers at the hotel, according to Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), chair of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee.
“Who were these women? Could they have been members of groups hostile to the United States? Could they have planted bugs, disabled weapons, or in any other ways jeopardized security of the president or our country?” she fumed.
“Given the number of personnel involved, does this indicate a problem with the culture of the Secret Service?”

Hillary Clinton goes dancing in Cartagena

The US Secretary of State went dancing at the Cafe Havana during this weekend's Summit of the Americas.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton went dancing during this weekend's Summit of the Americas in Cartagena, Colombia.
Clinton and a few members of her entourage slipped out to Cafe Havana, a Cuban-themed club where they were spotted sipping on Colombian beer and dancing in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Cafe Havana is one of Cartegena's "most authentic and coolest nightspots," according to The New York Times. It's known for its mojitos. But it's an interesting choice for a diplomat from one of only two nations that continue to oppose Cuba's inclusion in future summits.
Agence France-Presse grabbed a photo of Clinton dancing with a Havana sign in the background and another of her drinking a Colombian beer. Clinton opted for Aguila, a popular local bargain brand, in a bottle.
Clinton, who was at an official dinner until after midnight, had "a lot" of fun, a State Department official told Reuters.
Cuba was among the most decisive issues at this weekend's meeting of leaders from nearly three dozen countries in the Americas. But US Secret Service agents and military personnel who were partying with prostitutes - at least one of whom may have had to fight fight to get paid - have grabbed the most headlines.

Clinton Lets Off Some Steam In Steamy Cartagena

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton tips back a cold one in Cartagena.
TEXT SIZE
She was already the most popular politician in the United States. Now, a bottle of beer and a spin on the dance floor appear to have made U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton even more likeable, judging by the reaction to photos of her drinking and dancing this past weekend in Cartagena, Colombia, at the end of the Summit of the Americas.

The pictures – which quickly went viral on the Internet -- show Clinton, surrounded by State Department staff members and her security detail, at a Cuban-themed bar called Café Havana, smiling and posing for snapshots, dancing the rhumba, and sipping a bottle of beer.

Witnesses told local media that Clinton’s party ordered a dozen beers, two shots, and bottles of water and left the waiter a $40 tip.

Care to dance?
Asked about Clinton’s night out at today’s State Department briefing, spokesman Mark Toner downplayed the fuss.

“I can confirm that she, indeed, did have a very good time and was just enjoying some of the nightlife in Cartagena with colleagues," he said. "It’s kind of a 'dog-bites-man' story. There’s nothing to it."

“The New York Post” broke the story, headlining it, “Hillary Havana Heck of a Good Time” and writing:

“Clinton quickly proved she's just a regular gal when it comes to drinking -- she eschewed a glass and sucked down her Aguila pilsner cerveza straight from the bottle."

Dozens of online media sites quickly picked up the story and wrote their own headlines: “Who Wouldn’t Want to Share A Beer With Hillary?” and, “Hillary Gets Down In Colombia!”

Delighted readers have lit up online comment boards with mostly approving comments:

-- "You go Hillary -- nothing like letting off a little steam now and then!"
-- "Go get ’em Hillary, you are not doing anything anybody else wouldn't do. Nothing wrong with letting your hair down from time to time."
-- "Go Hill! Nice to see a smile on your face!"
-- "Never used to be a big Hillary fan, but she's gaining more points in my book. LOVE this!"

The light-hearted celebration is especially notable because Clinton has a reputation as one of the hardest-working secretary of states in modern history, as one online commenter on Politico noted:

"If there is any member of this administration worthy of a beer and some down time...it's Hillary Clinton. Have little use for her politics but her work ethic is impeccable."

Of course, not everyone agrees.

"North Korea firing missiles...Afghan bombers blowing up embassies...Syria rioting...Iran making more threats...Why should our secretary of state be concerned with any of it?” one man wrote.

Another criticized Clinton for “[urging] more violence in places like Libya and Syria and...threatening Iran."

Not surprisingly, photographic proof that Clinton is just like everyone else who likes a cold beer and a bit of fun after a hard day's work sent political observers rushing to interpret it through the lens of the 2016 presidential election, which she insists she’s not planning to run in:

"Clinton letting her hair down is the kind of thing that would play well in that presidential run in 2016 that some of her supporters have suddenly started talking about in the last few weeks,” wrote one.

Another called the photos “humanizing and helpful for 2016.” Yet another said bluntly, "That Hillary photo is good press for 2016."

Even a few Republican Party loyalists seem to have been won over.

After seeing the pictures, someone named Glenn wrote, “I am a devout Republican and rarely have anything nice to say about Hillary; however, to see that bright smile on her face, after always having that down-and-out and beaten look of late, I found it a bit refreshing. After all, even Hillary, deserves a little pick-me-up once in a while. Not too much though. GO ROMNEY -- 2012!”

Well, temporarily won over.

Colombian escort speaks about Secret Service scandal
Dispute over cash » The woman’s account tracks with the version of events coming out of Washington.
CARTAGENA, Colombia • A Secret Service agent preparing for President Barack Obama’s arrival at an international summit meeting and a single mother from Colombia who makes a living as a high-priced escort faced off in a room at the Hotel Caribe a week ago over how much he owed her for the previous night’s intercourse.
"I tell him, ‘Baby, my cash money,’" the woman said in her first public comments on a spat that would soon spiral into a full-blown scandal.

The dispute was that he offered $30 for services she thought they had agreed were worth 25 times that, and it set off an early morning struggle in the hallway of the hotel involving the woman, another prostitute, Colombian police officers arguing on the women’s behalf and U.S. agents who tried but failed to keep the matter from escalating.
Sitting on a couch in her living room, the woman described how she and a girlfriend were approached by a group of U.S. men at a discotheque. In an account that tracked with the official version of events coming out of Washington, but could not be independently confirmed, she said the men bought a bottle of Absolut vodka for the table and when that was finished bought a second one.
"They never told me they were with Obama," she said. "They were very discreet."
There was a language gap between the 24-year-old woman, who declined to give her full name, and the U.S. man who sat beside her all night and eventually invited her back to his room. She agreed, stopped on the way to buy condoms but told him he would have to give her a gift. He asked how much. Not knowing he worked for Obama but figuring he was a well-heeled foreigner, she said, she told him $800.
The price alone, she said, indicates that she is an escort, not a prostitute.
"You have higher rank," she said. "An escort is someone who a man can take out to dinner. She can dress nicely, wear nice makeup, speak and act like a lady. That’s me."
The woman veered between anger and fear as she told of her misadventure.
"This is something really big," she said. "This is the government of the United States. I have nervous attacks. I cry all the time."

Support for Secret Service chief amid scandal

(Corrupt defend the corrupt.)

File photo by H. Darr Beiser,, USA TODAY Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan testifies before a House Homeland
Investigators from the Secret Service's Office of Professional Responsibility have been dispatched to Cartagena to interview witnesses, and at least some of the agents have undergone polygraph examinations.
Secret Service scandal
"Although the Secret Service's investigation into allegations of misconduct by its employees in Cartagena, Colombia, is in its early stages, and is still ongoing, three of the individuals involved will separate or are in the process of separating from the agency," Morrissey said in a written statement.
The Pentagon has also opened an investigation into the incident, which has been viewed by many as an unforgivable breach of security by the service charged with protecting the president.
Meanwhile, Reps. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and Elijah Cummings, D-Md., suggested in a letter to Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan that the agents may have exposed sensitive information to the prostitutes. Issa and Cummings are respectively the chairman and ranking Democrat on the House oversight committee and were briefed by Sullivan on the incident this week.
"The facts as you described them raised questions about the agency's culture," Issa and Cummings wrote. "The incident ... is troubling because Secret Service agents and officers made a range of of bad decisions, from drinking too much, to engaging with prostitutes, to bringing foreign nationals into contact with sensitive security information, to exposing themselves to blackmail and other forms of potential compromise."
Even as Obama and lawmakers on Capitol Hill have expressed outrage over the prostitute scandal, Sullivan has so far emerged relatively unscathed and has even managed to command a measure of respect.
On Wednesday, one day after the White House said Sullivan continues to hold the president's confidence, the likely GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney seconded Obama's support for the director.
"We are a nation, after all, under law, and the president has confidence in the head of the Secret Service, as do I," Romney told radio show host Laura Ingraham.
Sullivan has received plaudits from Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., who heads the House Homeland Security Committee, and Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, who said he was "impressed'' with how quickly Sullivan moved to launch his own internal inquiry and to request a separate investigation of the matter by the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general. Issa and Cummings also applauded Sullivan for taking "swift and decisive action in response to this scandal."
Sullivan, who was named director of the Secret Service in May 2006, joined the service in 1983 and was assigned to the Detroit field office. He was transferred to Washington in 1990 and got his first presidential protective division assignment in 1991. He has served in various roles, including heading the vice presidential protective division and serving as the deputy director, before landing the top spot.
Sullivan has his critics. Rep. J. Randy Forbes, R-Va., on Wednesday called on Obama to fire Sullivan, noting that the Secret Service also failed to prevent a pair of reality show cast members from crashing a State dinner at the White House in 2009.
"It's time we step up and say, 'This is not acceptable; we're going to change the leadership and straighten this problem out,' " Forbes said.
Ronald Kessler, author of the book In The President's Secret Service and a critic of the director, said the incident "is a symptom of the corner cutting and laxness that has been going on under Director Sullivan." Still, he said, Sullivan is likely to survive.
